A crowd of 11,000 turned up at a bright but very cold Nowlan Park last Sunday to witness O'Loughlin Gaels claiming their third Kilkenny senior county title. The bookies had made Carrickshock favourites, it was a tag that surprised many locals, one can only assume that the odds compiler wasn't aware of the city men's experience and fighting spirit. OK the ‘Shocks had five intercounty players in their ranks but it was widely accepted in Kilkenny that it was O'Loughlin Gaels that had the more balanced outfit.
